Next Generation - Common issues with Future Period Posting

A guide explaining how to resolve the "You are not able to proceed" error caused by insufficient permissions when posting transactions to a future period.

Access Financials has the capability to allow you to post into future periods rather then the current open period.

The permission to allow this functionality is security profile driven.

When you are trying to post a transaction in any module of the system, you may come across the "You are not able to proceed" message that prevents you from being able to post the relevant transaction to the selected year and or period.

This warning appears when the default year and period offered for the transaction falls ahead of the current open or working period, and your user account does not have future period posting permissions.

To resolve this issue, you should ask your system administrator to grant you future period posting permissions or alternatively you can wait until the relevant period is open or becomes the current working period before you complete the posting.

Set up Future Period Posting

  1. With the system administrator user, log into Access Financials and click on System then Security and then click on Future Period Posting Permissions.

  2. Select the checkbox next to the relevant security profile that you wish to grant future period posting permission for.

  3. Click on the Edit button at the top right-hand side of the the screen.

    • Note: All the Access Financials modules are listed for you.

  4. Select the checkbox in the Enabled column against the relevant module.

    • Note: The Periods Ahead field becomes enabled.

  5. Enter the number of periods and once you are done click Save.

    • Note: The furthest you can go is 23 periods ahead.

  6. Enter the number of periods and once you are done click Save.

  7. The users who are assigned to the profile you have updated need to log out and then back in to Access Financials for the changes to take place.
