How do Reversing or Recurring journals work?

Updated over 2 months ago

The below advises on Reversing and Recurring journals:

  • If a journal is set to reversing, and Batch is set as No, then the journal is posted live in the period specified, along with the reversal being posted live to the period following as well.

  • If a journal is set to reversing, and Batch is set as Yes, then both the initial for the specified period, and the reversal for the period following, are posted into Batch, where they can be reviewed and posted as required.

This would be the same concept for recurring journals.

On a standalone journal template, you can use the check box option beside the Reversing field to make it a recurring journal.

On an integrated journal template created through the Access tab, you can use the field which states Recurring.

You would be able to review the postings either on the Nominal Ledger Transactions Enquiry screen (filtering the results appropriately), or in the Post Batch screen (click the display icon on the post batch windows) respectively.

Note:

  • Please ensure and confirm the details of the journal to help filter your search results.

  • If using the Standalone Journal Template and appears to have one or more fields, or any standard text overlapping other cell fields, then this can be a sign of a corrupted template.
