Once you have set up the Bank Feed on your selected bank account, and have ticked the Activate Open Banking checkbox, you can start downloading transaction from the connected bank directly into the Cash Book using the Import Statements functionality on the Bank Rec tab.
If you are not using Bank Feeds, but you are importing csv files, please refer to our Set up new mapping for for bank statements on a bank type nominal article.
You can connect the Cash Book account you want to reconcile to the bank account or you can use an existing active connection.
You will be using the Import Statements action card on the Action Panel each time you wish to download a new statement into Access Financials from your bank.
Download Bank Transactions into Financials for the first time
Click Financials then click Cash Book.
Note: All Bank and Petty Cash type nominal accounts are displayed for you. You can narrow down you search using advanced filters. You can also search on the columns directly by pointing the mouse to the name of the column and click on the icon and choose from the available filter list, then click OK.
Select the checkbox in front of the nominal bank account that you have set up the bank feeds for.
Note: The Action Panel automatically opens from the right-hand side of the screen.
Click on the Bank Rec tab on the Action Panel and select the Import Statements action card.
Note: The Import New Bank Statement - Bank Connection screen opens.
Enter the following compulsory fields:
Reference
Statement Start Date
Statement End Date
Opening Balance - You do not have to populate the Closing balance as the system will automatically calculate this based on the opening balance and the transactions on the statement.
Click on the Download Transactions button to download your transactions.
Note: The number of transactions that have been downloaded will automatically update for you.
Click Next.
You are automatically taken to the Bank Reconciliation screen where your transactions are automatically matched by the Auto Matching system and these transactions will be displayed for you under the Matched Tab.
All transactions that the Auto Matching system cannot match for you will be under the Unmatched Tab of the Bank Reconciliation screen .
Note: You cannot import another statement until you have reconciled all transactions from your current statement.
Change the Closing Date on the Bank Rec screen to download more transactions
When you go through the Import Statement steps as defined above in step 4, you enter a Statement End Date. You can amend this date on the Bank Reconciliation screen by following the steps below:
On the Bank Reconciliation screen under the Summary section, you can see a Closing Date field which defaults to the Statement End Date that you added when importing your transactions.
Click on the calendar icon or the drop-down arrow to open the calendar and select your new date.
Once you selected the date, you must click on the refresh icon which is right next to the Closing Date field.
Note: The bank Reconciliation screen is updated and you will see new transactions downloaded for you if there were an extra ones for the date that you selected.
All new transactions where the Auto Matching system can perform a match will be matched and will be under your Matched tab.
Leave and come back to the Bank Reconciliation
Should you need to leave the Bank Reconciliation screen before you can fully reconcile all your transactions, you can come back to your work in progress at anytime by following the steps below:
Click Financials then click Cash Book.

Select the checkbox in front of the nominal bank account that you have set up the bank feeds for.

Click on the Bank Rec tab on the Action Panel and select the Auto-Match action card.
You are taken back to the Bank Reconciliation screen where you can continue your reconciliation process.
Subsequent download Bank Transactions into Access Financials
Before you can download another statement, you must finish fully reconciling your current statement.
Click Financials then click Cash Book.
Note: All Bank and Petty Cash type nominal accounts are displayed for you. You can narrow down you search using advanced filters. You can also search on the columns directly by pointing the mouse to the name of the column and click on the icon and choose from the available filter list, then click OK.
Select the checkbox in front of the nominal bank account that you have set up the bank feeds for.
Note: The Action Panel automatically opens from the right-hand side of the screen.
Click on the Bank Rec tab on the Action Panel and select the Import Statements action card.
Note: The Import New Bank Statement - Bank Connection screen opens.
