Creating and reporting on nominal category codes

Updated over 2 months ago

Financials offers the ability to add Nominal Categories to all the Nominal Accounts. This is useful for reporting on specifics within a Nominal Account. It allows for a more detailed / defined way of recording and reporting on transactions.

Financials allows for the assigning of up to 8 Nominal Categories at the Account Management Level which can be customised. Within these Categories, the user can have multiple sub-categories for further refinement of transactions.

Categories can be assigned to Nominal Accounts once setup within the Nominal Record, under Category.

The Category fields are customisable, they default to the following convention:

  • Group Heading

  • Division Heading

  • Other Heading

  • Extra Heading

  • Category 5

  • Category 6

  • Category 7

  • Category 8

To add records under a category, please do the following:

  1. Click Financials then Settings then click Categories.

  2. Then select the relevant Category you want to add records to and click on the Edit button at the top of the screen.

  3. Click on the + Insert new record button and enter the details.

  4. Click Save.
