Next Generation - View details and access available actions for a nominal account in the your chart of accounts

When you have built a set of nominal accounts, the Chart of Accounts screen opens in a View Mode rather than the Build Mode. All nominal accounts need to be built before you can view the details or perform any actions for the relevant nominal account.

This articles aims to take you through how you can view the details of a nominal account and how you can access different actions from the Chart of Accounts screen.

Example used for reference:

Your company has offices in London and in Oxford, and you have selected the hyphen separator. You have created the records in each category as per the step by step guide on the Categories set up article.

  • Category 1 identifies the office of your company (London and Oxford).

  • Category 2 identifies the department of your company (sales and general).

  • Category 3 records the details of the income or cost (1000, 1500, 200 etc).

View details of a built nominal account:

  1. Click Financials then click Chart of Accounts.
    Note: The Chart of Accounts screen opens as default in view mode with the built nominal accounts list collapsed.

  2. Click on the expand arrow to gain access to the second level, then click on the expand arrow for the Detail Category.
    Note: All the Detail Category records are listed on the screen.

  3. Click on either the Account Code or the Account Name which are both underlined and are hyperlinks to open the details of the selected account where you can see the Details, Data and Visual Analysis, Settings and any Custom information.

Access actions for a built nominal account:

  1. Click Financials then click Chart of Accounts.
    Note: The Chart of Accounts screen opens as default in view mode with the built nominal accounts list collapsed.

  2. Click on the expand arrow to gain access to the second level, then click on the expand arrow for the Detail Category.
    Note: All the Detail Category records are listed on the screen.

  3. Select the check box in front of the account you want to work with.
    Note: The Action Panel automatically opens from the right-hand side of the screen with the available actions.

  4. Click on the action card you want to work with.
    Note: The list of action cards depends on your security profile permissions.

You can select several records at a time to perform any actions.

Note: There is a maximum of 500 record selection limit for some of the Action Cards available through the Action Panel. These are:

  • Add Budget

  • Delete

Note: There is a maximum of 100 record selection limit for some of the Action Cards available through the Action Panel. These are:

  • Insert Journal

  • Insert Debit and Credit VAT Journal

When you select more than 500 records, the above actions are not displayed on the Action Panel.

The Merge Code action can only be done for one account at a time while there is no limit at all on the View Projects and View Dashboard.
