You can view all the bad debts that you have written off in the Reverse Bad Debt Written Off screen and you can reverse the bad debt write off on this screen too.
When you reverse a bad debt written off, there are a number of things that the system does which are explained in this article.
Reverse a processed bad debt or debts:
Click Debtors then Credit Control and then click Reverse Bad Debt Written Off.
Note: The Reverse Bad Debt Written Off screen opens listing all written off transactions. You can narrow down you search using advanced filters. You can also search on the columns directly by pointing the mouse to the name of the column and click on the icon and choose from the available filter list, then click OK.
Select the checkbox or boxes in front of the transactions you wish to reverse.
Note: You can then use the Select All check box at the top of the screen.
Click Process at the bottom of the screen.
A confirmation message is displayed for you with the total value of the transactions selected to confirm if you are happy to progress.
Click Continue.
Note: The Post Bad Debt Reversals screen is displayed.
Type in or select a sales analysis as this is a mandatory field.
Note: The Date and Year and Period fields are disabled and cannot be amended. They will pick up the system date and the year and period fields are adjusted accordingly depending on your posting permissions.
Click Save.
After you have selected the written off bad debt transactions, the system carries out several checks and postings:
The bad debt reversal transaction or transactions are posted.
The transactions reference is taken from the next Document Number for Bad Debt Transaction that is taken from the System Options Documents Tab which is security profile permission driven, prefixed with the letters BD.
The original invoice and bad debt write off transactions are unallocated.
The bad debt written off transaction is allocated against the bad debt reversal transaction, and the original invoice transaction is now outstanding again.
Note: You can write off and reverse written off bad debts as many times as you need to.
