You can filter on the Chart of Accounts screen when the screen is set to be in Build Mode.
Use filters on the Chart of Accounts screen:
Hover over the Select All column name to make the filter icon visible.
Click on to open the filter bar and the drop-down list.
Note: The search field displayed at the top of the drop-down is a contains filters so you can type in a couple of numbers of letters to find the record you are looking for, you don't have to remember the exact name or numbers.Once you have searched for a record and then you have ticked that record in the drop-down list, you can then perform other searches and your previously selected records will be remembered for you.
