Transactions are showing in wrong period

Updated over a month ago

Recent changes to screen layout mean that the instructions below will not apply to all ledgers. If you are using the newer screen layouts, please see Access Financials: Next Generation - How to edit a transaction once posted .

When you enter transactions in the system, it is possible to overwrite the dates and periods from the defaults that are displayed on screen before posting it.

Once a transaction has been posted you can correct the periods you have access to the Corrections module, unless the postings were part of a recurring/reversing journal, in which case it will be necessary to manually reverse them.

To correct a transaction, use the following instructions:

  1. Please note that the Corrections module will bypass the software's standard business rules and so there may be unexpected knock on effects. If at all possible, reverse the incorrect transactions and repost to the required period. For more details please see the article How to Reverse a Transaction.

  2. You first need to find the original transaction via transaction enquiries in the ledger that it was posted. I.e. if it is a supplier invoice, you would need to go to Creditors, Enquiries, Purchase Transactions and locate the transaction

  3. Click on the blue pop over button to the left of the transaction

  4. Click Edit Header Details

  5. Change the period as required

  6. Click Save
